Cllr Barrie Grunewald is 36 years old and father to two children. He is a former Regional Director to the Labour Party serving two Prime Ministers, Tony Blair & Gordon Brown.  Barrie is a Campaign & Communications professional; his interests include Education, Culture and Regeneration issues.

Barrie works for local Member of Parliament Rt. Hon. Shaun Woodward as his Parliamentary Aide and previously served as the Deputy Leader of St Helens Council.  Councillor Grunewald was appointed Parliamentary Aide to Shaun Woodward, MP for St Helens South and Whiston in 2007, in 2009 when he was elected as Labour Councillor for the Rainhill Ward.

 

Before entering politics, Councillor Grunewald was a mental health worker in the NHS and was an active trade unionist with Unison and was the youngest ever vice-chair of the political committee for Unison in Scotland.
