Liz Green has been a councillor in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames (London Borough) since 2002. She became Council Leader in 2018, when the Liberal Democrats won control. She is the first female leader of Kingston Council and is running one of only a handful of councils with a female majority administration. Previously she has held various positions including Leader of the opposition, Deputy Leader and portfolios for Education, Children's Services and Environment.

 

Liz has been an accredited LGA peer for over 10 years, was Vice Chair of the LGA Children's and Young People Board for 6 years and is a strong advocate of sector led improvement. She is part of the facilitation team for the LGA's flagship training course - the Leadership Academy, as well as the Women in Leadership course.

 

Liz chairs the sub-region (South London Partnership) Skills Board and sits on the Skills for Londoners Board. She is Deputy Leader and Whip for the Liberal Democrat Group on London Councils.
