Councillor Liz Green has been Deputy Chair of the Children and Young People's board at the Local Government Association for 5 years and a Councillor at the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames for 14 years. Liz has held Childrens Services and Education portfolios at RBK, as well as being Leader of the Council. She is currently Leader of the Opposition.
During this time she has overseen rapid school expansion in the area due to rising demographics, and managed changes to schools structures with the increase of academies and free schools, whilst maintaining quality. Liz was Leader of Kingston when they set up the innovative Company Interest Company, Achieving for Children, with the London Borough of Richmond on Thames to manage the councils' Childrens Services functions. She was also instrumental in the forming of Kingston Education Trust, a school improvement partnership with all their schools, including academies. The new secondary free school was a partnership between this Trust with Kingston University and Kingston College.
