UK Community Renewal Fund and UK Shared Prosperity Fund

Minutes:

The Chairman invited Paul Green, Policy Adviser, to introduce the report.

Paul introduced the report which provided an update on the work undertaken by the LGA regarding the UK Community Renewal Fund and the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (SPF).

Board Members made the following comments:

  • With regards to the Community Renewal Fund, there is a very short window to get bids in and getting money to spend, we should be using taxpayer’s money to deliver good outcomes for places.

  • We ought to be writing to the Secretary of State to remind him that we kept our promise and a UK SPF Taskforce was created.

Paul said that one of the messages from one of the Councils spoken to related to issues set out within point 5 of the report which showed the separation between the Community Renewal Fund and the SPF, because the Community Renewal Fund was tight in terms of timelines and shouldn’t be replicated within the UK SPF, it needed to be outcome focused.
