The Chair invited Katharine Goodger (KG), Improvement Coordination and Strategy Adviser, to introduce the update.

KG provided members with an update on preparations for the LGA Annual Conference in Bournemouth and, in particular, further details of the Innovation Zone. Over 200 applications had been received to run one of the 50+ sessions at the IZ and a draft programme was presented in Annex 9b. A number of improvement themed sessions were also featured in the wider conference programme.

Members’ comments and questions:

·       Members warmly welcomed the wide variety of sessions in the draft programme and placed on record their thanks to officers and Peter Fleming for all the hard work that had gone into it.

·       Lead members were asked to promote the celebrating peers session through their political group offices and other contacts.

Decision:

Improvement & Innovation Board noted the progress on the Innovation Zone and wider LGA Conference 2023.
