Councillor Lorna Fielker is the Leader of Southampton City Council, Labour Councillor for Swaythling Ward and Deputy Chair of Key Cities.
She was elected in 2018 and has had Cabinet Member
responsibility for adult social care, public health, housing,
lesiure and education.
Cllr Felker’s ambitions are to lift
Southampton out of the bottom quarter of deprived areas in the
county. Those ambitions are rooted in working in partnership with
anchor institutions and key stakeholders in Southampton, growing
the economy to benefit local people and businesses. The delivery of
new homes of all tenure alongside skills development are an
essential part of that local growth.
Outside of politics, Cllr Fielker is a Postgraduate
Researcher at the University of Southampton investigating the
impact of the GDPR on voluntary organisations.
She has a professional background working in local
government, social housing and the voluntary sector
