Jake was first elected to Sutton Council in 2018 aged 20, becoming the youngest elected Liberal Democrat in London for the 2018-2022 council term. In his time on Sutton Council, Jake has served as the Council's Lead Member for Equalities and Preventing Hate Crime since 2018 alongside being Chair of the Licensing Committee and Chair of the Liberal Democrat Group on Sutton Council. Outside of politics, he studied History and International Relations at Royal Holloway, University of London at an Undergraduate level before completing a Masters by Research in History focusing on the history of Civil Defence and Resilience in London, also at Royal Holloway. As an openly LGBTQ Councillor, Jake has also played a role in supporting the local LGBTQ Forum before becoming Chair in 2023
