Bella Sankey is a Labour Councillor for Wish Ward and Leader of Brighton & Hove City Council. She was first elected in December 2022 and re-elected then elected as Leader following the local elections in Brighton & Hove in May 2023.
Before entering politics, Bella was the director of a national charity and a human rights campaigner. She has fought many successful campaigns for justice, including criminalising modern-day slavery and preventing the unlawful expulsion of trafficking survivors from the UK.? She is a mother of two toddlers. She is of mixed heritage and was born and raised in Brighton & Hove.
